He is Legette’s twin and does everything with his sister. He’s a quiet kind of guy and prefers to think rather than chat. Their grandmother, his “abuelita,” is Spanish so he loves dressing like a gaucho. Legs sometimes wishes his legs were shorter but they are very handy to see over the crowds on parade days! He enjoys fishing with his dad, learning to make tortillas with his mom, walking on sandy beaches, and snuggling up with a fun book about prehistoric animals.
She is a real chatterbox and her dad has to remind her to think before she speaks. While Legs reads in their treehouse, Legette writes songs and sings them. She loves to play soccer, tap dance, paint pictures of flowers, and, most of all, jump rope with her friend Honeysuckle. Together they are working on their skills because their school is having a double dutch jump rope contest. The winners get to shop with their parents for food for the local pantry. Legette and Honeysuckle really want to win!
She lives two doors down from Legs and Legette. She is a fine student and is tops in her class in math and geography. She loves to do science experiments and make scrapbooks about interesting inventions. Honeysuckle doesn’t tell many people but she wants to be a space explorer one day. Every night she gazes at the stars and thinks about being with them. Her favorite things to do are to play with Legs and Legette, swim and jump rope, and spend two weeks every July with her family on her uncle’s houseboat.
